Ohangwena II Wellfield Development
New boreholes and collector pipelines to supply the Ohangwena region from groundwater.
Project noticesBulk water supply, hydrology, water quality and purification, delivered through five Business Units across Namibia.

NamWater abstracts, treats and conveys water in bulk. Our customers are municipalities and local authorities, industries, mines, government institutions and the Directorate of Water Supply and Sanitation, which distributes water to rural communities.
Only about 1% of rainfall recharges groundwater, which is later extracted through boreholes.
Namibia is the driest country south of the Sahara. Our hydrologists monitor rainfall, river flow, dam storage and aquifers to plan supply and publish the weekly dam bulletin.
Namibia's water sources

Our laboratory in Windhoek offers water quality analysis on request. With qualified staff and modern equipment, it serves NamWater schemes, customers and the public, who are welcome to enquire about the quality of the water they use.
Water contaminated with organisms such as Cryptosporidium can cause diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, headaches and low-grade fever in healthy people for one to two weeks.
For infants, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems it can be life-threatening. Our purification plants remove these risks so that the water we supply is safe to drink.
